Disney World Appoints First Openly Gay President

This week Walt Disney World appointed George Kalogridis as its first openly gay president.

George Kalogridis is the park’s fifth president and has been with the company for 41 years according to his Walt Disney World biography. His previous titles include hourly cast member, general manager of the Grand Floridian Beach Resort, Vice President of Epcot, and President of Disneyland Resort.

As president of Walt Disney World Resort, he now oversees over 66,000 employees.

Walt Disney, Co. has participated in HRC's Corporate Equality Index since the program was launched in 2002 and has topped the list repeatedly as one of the Best Places to Work.

HRC's Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees. Released each fall, the CEI an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
