Corporate Equality Coast to Coast

From New York City to the Pacific Northwest, the Workplace Project continues to crisscross the country in the name of corporate equality. We were particularly pleased to join some of our staunchest allies in the Beaver State for brunch at the Portland Federal Club and Steering Committee’s pre-Pride parade party.

The party was hosted by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in their brand new Portland showroom.  Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams have earned a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index since 2003, consistently making them one of the Best Places to Work for LGBT EqualityThe company is also one of HRC’ longest-running National Corporate Partners.

In addition to our wonderful Federal Club members and Portland Steering Committee, who work tirelessly with local organizations to rally around causes for equality, Oregon is also home to the Nike headquarters. Along with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Nike represents another trailblazer for equality. In the CEI’s first year, Nike was one of only thirteen companies named to the Best Placed to Work list and the brand continues to support our efforts as a National Corporate Partner. Recently Nike introduced its Be True Pride merchandise, inspired by LGBT athletes and created to help end homophobia in sports

Equality in corporate America has certainly come a long way since then – in 2013, an incredible 252 businesses received a 100 percent in the CEI. We only expect that number to continue increasing as more and more businesses elect to join us on the right side of history.
