Continuing the Pressure on Senator Lugar Across the Hoosier State
November 22, 2010 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
Last week, we were in northern Indiana on the campus of Indiana University South Bend, just a couple miles away from Notre Dame University. There, the members of the Feminist Student Union wrote letters and made calls to Senator Lugar urging him to support repeal and vote in favor of the NDAA with repeal attached. This week, before they all
head home for Thanksgiving, members of FSU will be across campus collecting letters and making more calls to make sure Senator Lugar hears from all Hoosiers. If you’re in the South Bend area, make sure to stop by and make your voice heard. This afternoon, Major General Dennis Laich was in Bloomington (an hour and a half south of Indianapolis) for a forum hosted by OutLaw, the LGBT group for IU’s Law school, about DADT repeal. After his presentation, the students made sure to call both Senators Lugar and Bayh to urge them to support repeal. I’ll be working with OutLaw and General Laich in the coming weeks to continue the efforts to make sure repeal happens this year.Make sure you’ve made your calls to your Senators. Just a reminder, the Capitol Switchboard number is 202.224.3121. Call early, call often. They need to hear from you. We’ll be on the ground in Indiana and could use your help.
