This post comes from HRC's Editorial & Digital Media Intern Leanne Naramore:
As of this morning, Washington State officially recognizes same-sex couples’ marriage licenses.
Washingtonians stood on the right side of history in November, passing marriage equality by popular vote. This past Thursday, hundreds of loving and committed lesbian and gay couples were finally able to apply for marriage licenses throughout the state. Because of Washington’s three day waiting period, today is the first day that licenses are officially recognized.
Today is a big day for Washington’s LGBT community. HRC congratulates all who exercise their equal right to marry, both today and in the years to come.
