Come Out with HRC to the 50th Anniversary March on Washington

Post submitted by Noël Gordon, HRC Foundation Coordinator

50th anniversary, march on washingtonExcited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington? We are, too! HRC is proud to participate in the “National Action to Realize the Dream” March this Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial.

The Rev. MacArthur H. Flournoy, HRC's Director of Faith Partnerships & Mobilization, will speak alongside the Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King, III., Congressman John Lewis, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and other noted civil rights activists. Now is the time to come out and stand in support of equality and social justice.

HRC, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) and the Mayor’s Office for LGBT Affairs invite you to join us at the D.C. War Memorial, where we will walk over to the Lincoln Memorial en masse. The goal is to gather as members of the LGBT and allied community for the rally, the speakers and the march. Please join us no later than 8:00AM (EST). The D.C. War Memorial is located across from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial at 900 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20245.

We encourage all of our LGBT friends, families and straight supporters to showcase their pride – whether through a rainbow flag, HRC T-shirt, or something similar.

For more information about the march, please see our Frequently Asked Questions. Otherwise, you can find a map of the parade route and rally here.
