College of Staten Island Organizes Big Week of Events!
April 15, 2011 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
The following post comes from Stephen Anderson, HRC field organizer in New York, working on Staten Island to secure marriage equality for all New Yorkers.
In the past 48 hours, my colleague, Jeremy Hammond, and I collected over 400 postcards over 100 people called Senator Andrew Lanza’s office to make their voices heard and let the senator know that New Yorkers support equality!
This week, the Gay Straight Student Alliance of the College of Staten Island is hosting a week of action on campus with HRC and Marriage Equality New York. The action packed week will start off with a bang, collecting postcards from students and culminates with a campus-wide “Day of Silence.” To break the silence, we’ll celebrate with a “Night of Noise.” To get in to the “Night of Noise” celebration, each person must write a letter their state senator in support of equality.
The College of Staten Island is very much for equality. New Yorkers are for equality. Join our efforts.
If you live on Staten Island and are interested in becoming a New Yorker for Marriage Equality, please contact Jeremy at [email protected] or Stephen at [email protected].
