Clergy and People of Faith from Across Arkansas Unite to Pass ENDA Now
October 29, 2013 by HRC staff
Post submitted by Ryan Rowe, HRC Senior Regional Field Organizer overseeing faith outreach for the Arkansas ENDA campaign.
From Pine Bluff, to Jonesboro, Little Rock and Fayetteville, it has been amazing to witness the groundswell of support from people of faith in Arkansas for the Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA). In just a short time of reaching out to the community through the Americans for Workplace Opportunity coalition campaign, there has been an overwhelmingly supportive response from a wide range of congregations and people of faith throughout Arkansas. In fact we have already collected signatures from over 50 bishops, pastors, priests, rabbis and other clergy leaders on a letter encouraging Senator Mark Pryor to pass ENDA this year.
Most inspiring has been seeing Baptists, United Methodists, Episcopalians, Jews, Unitarians and people from many different faith traditions and backgrounds volunteer to put their faith into action. Through handwritten letters, phone calls and letters to the editor, they are sharing their personal stories with Senator Pryor as Arkansans who are lead by their faith to support basic workplace protections for their families and LGBT neighbors.
Volunteers from congregations across Arkansas have been working with our dynamic ENDA organizers Anne Haley, James Rector and William Robinson to host discussions near you on “Our Faith and ENDA” and organize letter writing parties, phone banks and other events and opportunities to raise the voice of Arkansas People of Faith for ENDA.
If you are a person of faith from Arkansas who would like to get in engaged in the campaign to pass ENDA now, or you’d like to connect us to an Arkansas clergy person who would like to sign the letter and/or a congregation or person of faith that would like to volunteer, please contact one of your local organizers now:
In Northwest Arkansas, please contact James Rector at email@example.com
In Central Arkansas or the Jonesboro area, contact Anne Haley at firstname.lastname@example.org

Rev. Lisa Fry writes a personal letter in support of ENDA to Sen. Pryor as part in one of our faith-based letter writing parties.
