April 25, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has opened a commanding lead in the race to replace Mayor Michael Bloomberg, according to a new poll. Quinn has 32 percent of the vote in the six-way race, and has more than doubled her support in Manhattan to 50 percent.
If elected, Quinn would become one of the most powerful lesbians in elected office.
Quinn is a strong advocate for the LGBT community, and played a leading role in drumming up support for last year’s historic marriage equality victory in New York.
