New Jersey Governor Chris Christie last week vetoed the historic marriage equality legislation passed by the State Legislature, but that isn’t enough for Maggie Gallagher.
In a new piece for NRO, Gallagher questions Christie’s anti-LGBT-cred by highlighting his recent appointment of an openly gay man to the state Supreme Court.
That’s a big no-no according to NOM’s marriage pledge that most of the GOP presidential candidates signed. Other tenets of the pledge include supporting a federal marriage amendment and the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act, and establishing a McCarthy-like commission to investigate allegations of harassment against NOM’s anti-LGBT supporters.
Gov. Christie has already vetoed marriage equality legislation in a state where the majority of voters support allowing commited same-sex couples to marry. What else is Maggie Gallagher looking for? After all, NOM claims that they are simply out to "protect marriage," and not make life difficult for LGBT people.
