Chad in Arkansas: One Mom’s Story
June 11, 2012 by Fred Sainz, Vice President, Communications and Marketing
HRC President Chad Griffin is in Arkansas today, meeting with community members and elected officials to discuss the realities facing LGBT youth, and the work that must be done to create a better, safer future.
Speaking at the Clinton School of Public Service, a mom told her story to Chad about her son who tried to commit suicide because he is gay. With tears in her eyes, she recounted her story about how much she loved her son and felt she had failed him because she had not protected him enough from the torment of his daily life.
A pin could be heard dropping.
