Celebrities Come Out for Equality in 2013

Post submitted by Mitchell Scuzzarella, HRC Digital Media Intern

Throughout 2013 we have seen many influential public figures come out as LGBT or as straight allies. Whether they are political figures, film and television stars, or champion athletes, each helped celebrate equality by coming out.

For this year’s National Coming Out Day, HRC has created a resource of exemplary coming out moments in 2013. Star athletes like Jason Collins and Brittney Griner join others like Hillary Clinton and Raven Symoné in celebrating being LGBT or a straight ally.

The decision for these athletes, celebrities and public figures to come out and live openly is encouragement for future Americans to do the same.

Join us this National Coming Out Day in applauding their decision, and check out the Celebrities Come Out for Equality in 2013 page.
