Campaign for ENDA in Ohio Picks Up Steam

Organizers in Ohio with the Americans for Workplace Opportunity campaign continue to build volunteer teams and engage Ohioans across the state. Because we do not know when a vote will be scheduled in the U.S. Senate on the Employment Non-discrimination Act, it is important that we act as if every day is the day before the vote. And in order to meet our end-goal of securing Senator Rob Portman’s YES on ENDA, we know we must activate people throughout the Buckeye State.
Over the past week, more than 50 volunteer shifts have been completed at phone banks, canvasses and meetings in cities like Dayton, Columbus, Akron and Bowling Green. Our five Field Organizers are busy hosting Community Meetings to inform and engage activists in the work. We’ve already held meetings in Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton. This week we will host meetings in Bowling Green, Akron and Cincinnati. And next week we head to Athens. You can find more information about the meetings below.
And of course, in order to send over 10,000 postcards, and patch through over 800 calls to Senator Portman’s offices in Ohio we need a huge volunteer team! If you are interested in getting involved in any of the work on ENDA in Ohio, we hope you’ll attend an upcoming community meeting or a volunteer night (below). Or, if you can’t make it to anything yet in person, please contact me at email@example.com and I’ll get you plugged in wherever I can. We need you to make a difference!
