Calling our Maryland State Delegates
September 29, 2011 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
With marriage equality in Maryland heating up, we’re ramping up ahead of the October special session to make sure that Delegates know that we expect them to honor Governor O’Malley’s commitment to making marriage equality a reality. Last night in Baltimore, we partnered with Equality Maryland, one of the many organizations in the Marylanders for Marriage Equality coalition, at their office in Baltimore to call our members in Maryland. The message was simple: please contact your state Delegates and let them know you support loving and committed couples sharing their love through civil marriage. One woman I spoke to was so passionate about marriage equality that she got right on the phone and called her Delegate. After she called, she also called her friends and family so they knew they should make a call too.
Want to help? It’s easy. If you’re a Maryland resident, visit www.mdelect.net to find out who your state Delegates are and information to call their office.
Want to do more? We need your help in contacting the thousands of people across the state who support marriage equality to encourage them make their voices heard. We have phone banks in key locations and hope you can join us. If you’re in Frederick, Baltimore, or DC, click the location for more information and to RSVP.
In order to continue to get our message across, we’ll be in Annapolis on October 17th, during the special session to meet with our legislators face to face. We’ll be meeting at Lawyer’s Mall at 10a, then meet with our legislators in their offices. Click here to sign up for Lobby Day!
