Calling for Marriage Equality in New York
June 22, 2011 by Marty Rouse, National Field Director
With the state Senate vote on marriage equality perhaps only hours away, there is still work to be done to secure the votes needed to win.
Our allies at SEIU have donated their office space and phone bank, only a short walk to the Capitol. For weeks now, our organizers and volunteers have been calling constituents and urging them to contact their Senators.
Since 10 o'clock this morning, the phone bank has been fully staffed. With caffeine and plenty of pizza and salad, we'll be here until a vote - dialing, encouraging, and making history, one phone call at a time.
