“Breaking Bad” Superstar Bryan Cranston Supports New Mexico Unites for Marriage

Bryan Cranston, known for his award-winning role as Walter White on Breaking Bad, recently added his voice to the growing majority who affirm same-sex couples right to marry in the Land of Enchantment.
“I support the work of New Mexico Unites for Marriage to ensure that all couples have the privilege of committing legally and publicly to the institution of marriage,” said Cranston in a statement.
Cranston is no stranger to New Mexico or to LGBT advocacy. The megahit television series Breaking Bad was set and produced in Albuquerque. And in 2012, he and his family publicly spoke out in support of marriage equality nationwide, as part of HRC’s Americans for Marriage Equality campaign.
HRC is proud to be a founding member of New Mexico United for Marriage, a broad and diverse coalition of local and national organizations, businesses and civic leaders, communities of faith and everyday New Mexicans working to secure and protect marriage equality in the state.
In December, the New Mexico Supreme Court issued the historic ruling to extend marriage equality statewide. However, conservative legislators continue to fight to deny loving, committed couples the right to marry.
A hallmark of the LGBT rights movement is the fight to have our relationships recognized as equal under the law. Full marriage equality is the true measure of our success in this area. To learn more about the marriage equality landscape and how you can get involved, visit HRC’s Marriage Center.
