Be My Valentine, Vote for Marriage in Illinois
February 13, 2013 by Marty Rouse, National Field Director
Seventeen volunteers gathered this Valentine's Eve at the HRC headquarters in Washington, DC to call Illinois voters urging them to contact their state Senator.
Tomorrow the Illinois State Senate will consider a key vote on marriage equality. If approved, the legislation will move to a House committee.
HRC is hard at work in the state with 15 organizers on the ground as a proud member of the Illinois Unites for Marriage campaign, which includes Equality Illinois, Freedom to Marry, ACLU and Lambda Legal.
The campaign to make Illinois the tenth state to assure marriage equality is gaining steam. To get involved, contact [email protected].
