Arizona Tech Council Urges Veto of SB 1062
February 24, 2014 by Adrian Matanza, Regional Field Director
With Arizona Senate Bill 1062, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, now on the desk of Republican Governor Jan Brewer’s desk for her consideration, momentum across the state has been growing to urge the Governor to do the right thing and veto the bill. After powerful letters of support from faith leaders and public support from both Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake, as well as many of the state’s congressional delegation, the Arizona Tech Council now joins these voices.
In a letter to Governor Brewer, 83 businesses urge a veto of SB1062 saying, “this piece of legislation represents bad public policy and is already causing significant detrimental economic impact to the state of Arizona. This legislation will greatly impact our ability to not only attract top talent to move to Arizona, but will also greatly inhibit our ability to recruit businesses to relocate here.” See the full letter here.
The Governor has five days to consider the bill and has the option to sign, veto, or do nothing, which would automatically sign the bill into law. Join HRC and thousands of Arizona businesses, faith leaders and residents in urging Governor Brewer to veto this discriminatory bill.
Are you in Phoenix? Join supporters at a rally today at 5:30 p.m., at the Capitol to call on Governor Brewer to veto SB 1062. Make your voice heard and contact Governor Brewer here, or text AZ to 30644 to directly connect to her office.
