Alliance Defense Fund Changes Name to Reinforce Anti-Gay Mission
July 10, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
The Alliance Defense Fund, a notoriously anti-LGBT legal group involved in efforts to halt marriage equality across the nation and with ties to groups like the National Organization for Marriage, is changing its name. The group is now going by the name “Alliance Defending Freedom.” The tagline is changing to “For Faith. For Justice.”
Alliance Defending Freedom says they are changing their name to make their mission clearer:
Our new name will better communicate what you already know we do . . . build alliances between Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations to accomplish what none of us can do alone: protect and defend YOUR religious freedom.
ADF President Alan Sears says he hopes the new name will:
…open thousands of new doors for Alliance Defending Freedom, strengthen our efforts, attract additional Allied Ministry Friends, and make us even more effective at defending religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family…
What is clear is that the newly minted Alliance Defending Freedom will continue working tirelessly to discriminate against LGBT Americans, regardless of the growing momentum for equality nationwide.
