All Hands On Deck for Final DADT Phone Banks

The following post comes from Volunteer Coordinator Monica Keyes: We are less than one week away from the Senate vote in Congress to repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT) this year and with a few key senators on the fence, we need all hands on deck! Next week will be your last chance to come dial for equality by contacting HRC members in these priority states and patching them through directly to the offices of their Senators who sit on the Armed Services Committee. So far, our volunteer phone banks have yielded almost 8,500 of these calls, urging Senators to repeal DADT this year and they came straight from constituents who care about equality, our tax dollars and our national security. DADT has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars, has resulted in the discharge of over 13,500 otherwise qualified men and women, and has ruined countless lives. Come join us in the fight to repeal this discriminatory law, not tomorrow, not next year but NOW. Your last chances to phone bank for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell at our HRC Headquarters in Washington, D.C. are: Monday, May 24th 6:00-8:30pm Wednesday, May 26th 6:00-8:30pm Contact Monica (monica.keyes@hrc.org) with questions or to reserve your spot.
