Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore is waving his anti-LGBT flag high and proud lately, calling on all state governors to sign on to his campaign to define marriage as between one man and one woman.
“The moral foundation of our country is under attack,” said Chief Justice Moore in an interview with The Associated Press.
Chief Justice Moore’s last ditch effort to write bigotry in the state constitution is not only completely out of step from public opinion, but also propogates a lie in order to bolster support.
Though Moore claimed “a great majority of the American people want to hold to the definition that a marriage is between a man and a woman," in actuality an overwhelming 58 percent of Americans support marriage equality. And that number jumps to a staggering 70 percent when looking at young Americans.
