Adam Lambert made history today as the first openly gay artist to have the No. 1 album in the country.
Trepassing, Lambert’s second album, debuted today at No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart with 77,000 albums sold, reported Billboard.
Though other gay musicians like Elton John and George Michael have had No. 1 albums, none managed to top the charts after coming out.
Lambert rose to stardom as a finalist on the television show "American Idol." He is the seventh "Idol" finalist to reach No. 1 on the charts.
