Act Now: Tell Rick Perry His Anti-Gay Views are Unacceptable

Last Saturday, Texas Governor Rick Perry blatantly blurred the separation of Church and state and led “The Response, a Christian-only day of prayer backed by some of the most virulent anti-gay leaders and organizations in the country. Perry actually thanked these very same leaders directly while at The Response. Check out video of the interaction and sign our petition telling Rick Perry that his associations with and support of anti-gay groups is unacceptable and unbecoming of a politician – particularly one with rumored national ambitions.

From the podium of the prayer rally, one International House of Prayer representative said: “In the name of tolerance, even in the name of love, we are redefining love that’s not on God’s terms.” And the Southern Poverty Law Center calls the AFA “one of the most strident voices spreading malicious anti-LGBT propaganda.” The AFA’s Bryan Fischer has said LGBT individuals “have as many as 300 to 1,000 sexual partners over the course of a lifetime,” associated homosexuality with Nazism, and suggested LGBT advocates would push for the reinstatement of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” as a means of escaping military service should the draft ever return. Take action now. For the latest on Rick Perry and the activities of his anti-gay partners, visit www.hrc.org/callitout.
