A Powerful Reminder of Our Growing Support for Equality

HRC's headquarters is proudly displaying a banner with the powerful words of support President Barack Obama offered at the 2012 Presidential Inauguration.

These words serve as a powerful reminder of the progress we've made as a community, and the groundswell of support we have to propel us forward.

The LGBT community was included in the Presidential Inauguration in an unprecendented fashion: from the first LGBT poet laureate to LGBT inclusion in the Inaugural Prayer Service to President Obama's inaugural address.

The banner reads:

"Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law... For if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."

The banner is drawing a lot eyeballs and plenty of curious visitors, and as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to take up two landmark cases on marriage equality, the President’s words couldn’t be more important or timely. We’re glad to be doing our part to make sure they’re heard.
