A New Extreme in the Palmetto State

In South Carolina, the Laurens County Republican Party has a new pledge for all candidates that seek to run on the party ticket. While the LCRP pledge is chock full with the standard policy positions one would expect from extremist South Carolina Republicans, its requirements on social issues are even more eye-popping. You see, according to the Clinton Chronicle, the LCRP pledge includes the following:
Your spouse cannot be a person of the same gender, and you are not allowed to favor any government action that would allow for civil unions of people of the same sex.
Refusing to recognize the dignity of same-sex couples who love each other is just the beginning - the pledge also requires you to swear that you never had (or will have) premarital sex, and that you will never again look at pornography.
