This Thanksgiving, I am looking back over my seven years at the Human Rights Campaign, and thinking about all of the incredible victories and important moments all of our members and supporters have helped create.
In just the last 12 months, our members and supporters pushed for the successful repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and helped win marriage equality in New York. I'm in awe of what everyone’s time, activism, generosity, and dedication have made possible.
Coming to work every day, I’m inspired – but the most inspiring thing about my job is the people. I don't get to say it often enough, but I am so proud of our incredible staff here. I'm proud of every single volunteer and every supporter who has made this fight their fight.
We can be sure of just one thing – our path forward still holds many obstacles. But you and the millions of people at the foundation of this movement have always risen to the occasion. From growing families to people of faith to devoted straight allies, we're large enough and united enough that no challenge can deter us for long.
That's really what I love about this job.
From all of us at HRC – and from my family to yours – I hope you have a very happy, meaningful Thanksgiving.
All my best,
Joe
