24,000 Postcards for Marriage Equality in WA!
February 1, 2012 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
Ahead of a historic vote on marriage equality in Washington State, we're delivering over 24,000 postcards from Washingtonians in every legislative district in the state to their state senators letting them know that their constituents support marriage equality for ALL Washingtonians.
After our launch of the campaign back in November, it's great to see our hard work in action changing the hearts and minds of legislators and bringing marriage equality to the Evergreen State. We are hearing every day from supporters who have contacted their legislators on behalf of Washington United for Marriage. Many of these people have said they've never contacted their elected official before, but this issue is so important to so many in Washington that they want their voices heard. And it's working! The capitol campus is buzzing about marriage equality, especially today.
The State Senate is scheduled to vote on SB 6239, the marriage equality bill, later this evening and we are confident we have the votes for passage. Stay tuned for the latest information on marriage equality in Washington State. If you'd like to watch the debate and final vote live, you can find it online at http://www.tvw.org/. This will be a momentous day for Washington State and this evening we expect to see a packed capitol building with excited, loving supporters as together we watch history unfold.
If you're a Washingtonian, make sure you email your state legislators to make the case for marriage equality. Click here to send your message.
