2011: A Year of Progress in Christian Communities
January 6, 2012 by Sharon Groves, Director, Religion and Faith Program
Over the last few years, we’ve seen many exciting advancements along the path to equality for our LGBT brothers and sisters. As people of faith and religious communities, we are growing more confident expressing the inclusive values at the heart of our traditions. Last May, HRC released a groundbreaking poll that found 86 percent of Christians believe their faith leads them to the conclusion that the law should treat all people equally, including LGBT people. Believe Out Loud and New Ways Ministry have both compiled highlights of the progress our movement has made this past year in Christian communities. Check out Believe Out Loud’s list on Huffington Post and the New Ways Ministry blog to learn more about Catholic community accomplishments in 2011. As you can see, we are on very good footing for powerful new work in 2012. Happy New Year indeed!
