Join HRC, the Center for Black Equity, Hilton Worldwide and Verizon for a livestreamed discussion honoring the legacy of civil rights leader Bayard Rustin on Wednesday, August 28 at 7p.m. from the HRC Equality Center in Washington, D.C.
Rustin was the key strategist in every campaign waged by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the architect of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, and a passionate advocate for pacifism, worker’s rights and freedom for marginalized peoples around the world.
There is not one American movement for social change that his leadership did not touch. His legacy continues to influence our work today.
The panel tomorrow evening will feature the Hon. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Black Justice Coalition’s National Coordinator Mandy Carter, Southern Christian Leadership Conference's National Executive Director and COO Damien Conners, and HRC Director for Faith Partnership and Mobilization Rev. MacArthur Flourney. Earl D. Fowlkes, Jr., president and CEO of the Center for Black Equity, will moderate.
The event is now at capacity, but you can follow the live stream and submit questions to the panelists at www.centerforblackequity.org/livecast. Follow the conversation on Twitter at #BayardLegacy.
