Update: The bill will now be heard next week.
On the heels of a rally of thousands outside of the state capitol in St. Paul the Senate Finance Committee has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow on the Minnesota Safe and Supportive Schools Act.
The bill’s passage was delayed in the Senate in 2013 when Republicans threatened to draw out debate past the session’s deadline at midnight effectively stalling the bill.
If you live in Minnesota you can reach out to your legislators right now using this quick and effective tool.
If passed, the Safe and Supportive Schools Act would update Minnesota’s anti-bullying laws from some of the weakest in the country to the strongest.
