Yesterday the Canadian House of Commons approved a bill that if passed would outlaw transgender discrimination.
The bill passed 149 to 139 with support from 16 Conservatives. The legislation will now move to the Senate, which is an unelected body.
The bill marks an important step toward protecting transgender rights and safety worldwide. To learn more about HRC's work to protect transgender Americans, visit our resource center.
