The Massachusetts anti-LGBT group MassResistance recently launched a campaign selling anti-HRC stickers with one message: Support inequality.
The sticker is a crudely rendered version of the HRC equality logo in lavender with a black, diagonal bar through it.
The blue and yellow HRC logo is a ubiquitous symbol synonymous with the fight for equality for LGBT Americans. It first debuted in 1995, and has since become one of the most recognizable symbols for the LGBT community. In March 2013, HRC’s red version of the logo went viral, after millions of people shared the logo and countless memes to show their support for equality.
That the Massachusetts group is using the logo to represent an ever-dwindling minority of Americans who stand against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality is a testament to the strength and scope of HRC’s members and supporters.
The MassResistance logo suggests that it supports an image of America that is contrary to our nation’s fundamental principles: one that perpetuates the idea that some Americans are less than.
There remains much work ahead to make full equality for the LGBT community a reality. However, poll after poll shows that the majority of Americans stand on the right side of history.
To show that you stand as a fair-minded American in support of LGBT equality, order your own free HRC sticker now.
Display your sticker on your car, laptop, water bottle – no matter where you display it, you'll be saying you believe in an America that doesn't discriminate and treats everyone equally.
