Every time I get the opportunity to work with university students, I feel renewed hope for our future. Their passion for social change together with what might be called, ironically ,a blasé attitude towards LGBT people –an utter embrace and welcome of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities to the degree that it’s a total nonissue— is so refreshing.

I am so excited to be on the ground in Massachusetts right now, putting everything that I have into making sure that the Senate hears our voice when it comes to repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Already I have been hard at work, this time with student at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. It goes without saying that college students are more familiar with email and twitter than faxes and letters.

Fair-minded Americans were thrilled last night when Clint McCance – the Midlands School Board Vice President from Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, who was under fire for an anti-gay Facebook tirade – announced he would resign from the board. Appearing on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, McCance apologized for his screed that said he would disown his children if they were gay and encouraged LGBT youth suicide.
