WA’s Referendum 71 Update

A quick update on Washington State's signature counting which will determine whether Referendum 71 (the question to voters if they want to approve or reject a new comprehensive domestic partnership law) will appear on the ballot in November... The Secretary of State's office reports they are near halfway through hand checking each individual signature to determine its validity:

Keep your fingers crossed that opponents of Washington State's expanded Domestic Partner law have not turned in enough valid signatures to put the law up to voters on the November ballot.

Opponents of a recently enacted domestic partnership law in Washington State continue to fight to put the issue on the ballot for possible repeal. We learned this week that they have made an appointment with Secretary of State, Sam Reed, for this Saturday, July 25, at 2 p.m. In order to qualify for the November ballot our opponents must submit 120,577 valid signatures.
