The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has just released Equality from State to State 2010, a comprehensive report detailing LGBT-related legislation in 2010 and what is expected for 2011. New interactive maps of current state laws accompany the release of the report. Both can be found at http://www.hrc.org/statetostate2010

Though wintry weather threatened some travel plans, it could not stop two dozen women from coming to HRC’s headquarters in late January for the third annual Women and Leadership Retreat. Women are already key leaders in all aspects of HRC’s work. The retreat is just one opportunity for rising stars to develop new skills, and for current leaders to build on their abilities to help move us all closer to winning equality for all.

Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to join dozens of members of clergy representing the pro- equality contingency of the faith community. Arriving at 7:00 in the morning at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Annapolis, MD, leaders ranging from the Jewish community to the Baptist community, from the Unitarian Universalists to the Catholic Church convened with Equality Maryland and us here at HRC to demonstrate their commitment to fairness and justice for all.

In reading news and comments some contend that the SNL writers were poking fun at the typical pharmaceutical commercials that are so prevalent on TV. However to many of us who have journeyed along the deeply emotional and stressful path to transition our gender, the parody and acting portraits were utterly offensive.
