Maryland Committee Vote on Equality Marriage TODAY

Today, the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings committee is set to begin voting on SB116, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act. This would be the first vote on the bill and would set the stage for Maryland to become the next state to grant marriage to same-sex couples.

Over 400 supporters of marriage equality from across Maryland came to Annapolis on Valentine's Day to lobby in support of the "Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act." After three hours of testimony, supporters of marriage equality are going strong, testifying about the many reasons that loving and committed couples should have access to marriage equality. One couple, Stacy and Barbara, spoke about the need to protect their family, which includes their 10 month old son. Stacy and Barbara spoke about the need to protect themselves and their son through the institution of marriage.
