Twice a year New York City is host to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and this year some HRC volunteers added something new to the runway: marriage equality. Jo Doyle, Cicely Wootan, Jesse Cammack, Liz Raftery, and I braved the weather and the tough critics at New York's Fashion Week to raise awareness of a pending vote on marriage equality in the New York State Senate.

Yesterday, US District Court Judge Benjamin Settle ruled to withhold the names and addresses of people that signed Referendum 71, which puts domestic partnership rights on the ballot in Washington State. Judge Settle sided with Jane and John Doe, on the basis that "releasing petition signatures carries no public benefit, and that signing petitions, like the right to free speech, may be done anonymously."

Yesterday, HRC Seattle members met at the Equal Rights Washington office to phone voters reminding them to vote to APPROVE Referendum 71. The biggest challenge we faced on the phones wasn't support, it was the confusion surrounding the referendum.
