Monday morning HRC President Chad Griffin joined Voto Latino, the NAACP, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and other diverse groups at a Capitol Hill press conference announcing Voto Latino’s “I’m Ready for Immigration Reform” Coalition.

HRC Boston is certainly gearing up to make a big push for immigration reform in New England.

Cuc Vu, HRC's Chief Diversity Officer, stood proudly on stage alongside other progressive leaders who drove home the point that 'LGBT people are immigrants, and immigration is an LGBT issue.'

Last week HRC announced that comprehensive immigration reform, inclusive of LGBT immigrants and their families, was an organizational priority.  Since then we’ve worked with our partners in the LGBT and immigrant communities, participated in the Rally for Citizenship at the U.S. Capitol, and are working with our friends on Capitol Hill to make sure any immigration reform legislation is truly comprehensive.

With Congress set to act on comprehensive immigration reform, one of the most important unresolved issues is whether we will end the gratuitous harm that our immigration law inflicts on bi-national, same-sex couples and LGBT immigrants.
