North Miami Councilman Scott Galvin dropped by the Human Rights Campaign this week to thank HRC for its recent endorsement of his campaign for Congress. Scott is running in a crowded field in the August 24 Democratic Primary for the South Florida Congressional seat vacated by Kendrick Meek, who is running for U.S. Senate.

This week, NOM reportedly robocalled Iowa voters asking for money to help oust lawmakers and judges who support marriage equality in advance of its sham “Summer for Marriage” bus tour making stops in Iowa. The automated call stated that NOM has received a “challenge grant” of up to $2 million and is working to raise matching funds. Now is the question is will NOM again flaunt state public disclosure laws by hiding donations for use in Iowa campaigns?

Regina Calcaterra, Democratic New York state Senate candidate from eastern Suffolk County on Long Island, was recently endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign New York PAC in her bid to unseat an incumbent who voted against the marriage equality bill last year.

Erie County legislator Tim Kennedy of Buffalo is running for New York State Senate and is endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign New York PAC. Tim, a strong supporter of marriage equality, is running in the September 14th primary against a Democrat who voted to stop the marriage equality bill last year.

Last week, members of the LGBT community and allies gathered to show their support for Governor Ted Strickland’s re-election campaign. At a fundraiser held in the heart of Columbus, Ohio and sponsored by the HRC Ohio Families PAC, Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio, the Ohio Democratic Party’s LGBT Caucus, and Equality Ohio, Governor Ted Strickland affirmed his continued support for the LGBT community.
