Maine Senate Votes in Favor of Marriage for Same-Sex Couples!

The Maine state Senate voted 21 - 14 in favor of legislation that would permit same-sex couples to marry under state law. The Senate also defeated an amendment to the bill that proposed putting the question of marriage equality for same-sex couples before voters.

HRC President Joe Solmonese was sitting with Judy Shepard yesterday in the House gallery during the debate and floor vote on the hate crimes bill when Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) claimed that the idea that her son Matthew was killed because he was gay was "a hoax."
