NH update from Marty Rouse

During a House recess I walked downstairs to look around this historic building. The NH state house is our country's oldest where legislators still meet where they always have. I found a plaque from 1926 in honor of the pilgrims who sailed here to freedom on the Mayflower in 1620:

Things are moving fast this morning. The New Hampshire Senate has passed an amended marriage bill 14-10 and it now moves on to the House which is expected to act quickly. We could see a signature from Governor Lynch today. HRC's Marty Rouse is in New Hampshire and will report in with more details throughout the day.

Today the Oregon State House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution 59-0 requesting that the United States Congress pass the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (LLEHCPA) and condemning a recent brutal beating of two gay men at a Seaside, Oregon beach.

Yesterday, Representative Rosa DeLauro reintroduced the Healthy Families Act (H.R. 2460) in the 111th Congress. The Act would require most employers to provide at least seven days of paid sick leave a year for most employees.
