Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Marriage Equality bill during the Senate Judiciary Hearing last night. The hearing lasted until 1:33am and one thing was clear, advocates for equality had better stories and arguments than our opponents. No vote was taken, so stay tuned for further updates.

With widespread support from across the state, Maryland is on a path to become the sixth state to enact marriage equality legislation. But the fight isn't over yet. Last week, Delegate Tiffany Alston -- an original co-sponsor of the bill and key vote on the House Judiciary Committee -- suggested that she might pursue a civil union amendment. So when I arrived in Chestertown to speak with EROS, an LGBT advocacy group on the campus of Washington College, students were ready to take action. Over 40 students made calls to the office of Delegate Alston, asking her to stand by her original commitment to full marriage equality for all Maryland citizens.

Walking into the Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church yesterday evening, I was a little unsure of what to expect. I have participated in phone banks before for electoral campaigns, but this was my first time making calls about an issue that I am genuinely passionate about; marriage equality.
