Post submitted by Heidi Hurst, HRC Intern for Consumer Marketing:
Who would have thought equality could be so… hilarious? This October 10 to 13th, the Human Rights Campaign will serve as the beneficiary for Brightest Young Things’ Bentzen Ball Comedy Festival. So you can feel extra good while you're laughing, a portion of all proceeds will go towards the HRC’s continuing efforts to achieve full equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans.
This year’s festival spans four days, five venues, and ten events throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Headlining acts include curator and out lesbian Tig Notaro, host of NPR’s This American Life Ira Glass, as well as Equality RockersAnimal Collective. The Bentzen Ball expects to draw at nearly 10,000 audience members and guarantees to have them all in stitches with night after night of hilarious performances.
Look for HRC’s equality logo to make an appearance throughout the festival on stage, on the jumbotrons and even on some of the performers.
