Long-time aerospace giant and high scoring Corporate Equality Index company, Boeing announced, after public pressure, that it would grant pension survivor benefits for its same-sex married employees. The change in policy means that married same-sex couples will be treated no differently than their straight peers.
Born out of momentum following Washington State’s move towards marriage equality, this is a significant shift for a prominent Fortune 500 company.
An employee-launched petition, which garnered 79,000 signatures, prompted Boeing to reexamine their benefits offerings.
This change adds yet another win to the LGBT community in its continued efforts to strengthen workplace equality and joins dozens of other top rated CEI businesses that have implemented equal benefits across the board.
