Tomorrow, more than 300 veterans will be in DC for Veterans Lobby Day to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Among them is Marine Staff Sergeant Eric Alva, the first service member injured in the Iraq War. Today he appeared in a full page ad in Politico calling for repeal of DADT this year. Veterans like Eric have come from across the country for one purpose: to tell our leaders that this discriminatory law must be repealed this year. They need your help to amplfy their voices by lighting up the Congressional switchboard in a virtual lobby day TOMORROW.

Today President Obama nominated United States Solicitor General Elena Kagan as the nominee for the opening on the United States Supreme Court created by the retirement of Justice John Paul Stevens. Issues that are critical to the LGBT community may reach the Supreme Court in the next few years, including issues related to marriage equality, the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law, the Defense of Marriage Act, and the new federal hate crimes law. When issues like these come to the Supreme Court, it is vital that we have fair-minded judges to rule on these cases.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) continues to obfuscate its non-discrimination policy – saying that it doesn't allow discrimination of any form, and that it doesn't need to explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity because U.S. law doesn't require it. Today, the vast majority of the Fortune 500 companies have amended their equal employment opportunity (EEO) policies to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation. But ExxonMobil refuses to do the same.
