The St. Petersburg Times' PolitiFact says they are. In an article in their "Truth-O-Meter" the paper examines Rep. King's outrageous claims that the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act would "provide special protection to pedophiles and other sexual deviants." On a scale from "truth" to "pants on fire" (which by the way is an even worse lie than "false") King's comments rate the flaming one.

Good news from Pennsylvania, as the state is set to provide domestic partner benefits for state employees. Medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and hearing-aid benefits will be available to the same-sex and different-sex partners of state employees, effective July 1, 2009.

Working in the LGBT movement comes with a lot of bliss and heartache but my most memorable experience has to be witnessing the joy of May 17, 2004 in Boston. It was the first day same-sex couples were granted equality in marriage anywhere in the country and I was there to capture the moment and help share it with the rest of the country.
