The District of Columbia recently made news when a new law providing equal recognition for marriages by same-sex couples from outside D.C. went into effect. While same-sex couples still can’t marry in the District itself, they can enter into domestic partnerships, and D.C. has taken a step to provide important new rights to couples in those partnerships.

This morning, the Human Rights Campaign along with Servicemembers United held a press conference in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia as part of the Voices of Honor tour to build support for repeal of the failed Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

Today I learned that someone very dear to the African American LGBT Community died. E. Lynn Harris was a well known author in our community and on a book tour when he had a heart attack. He blew everyone away in the early 1990’s with his first book “Invisible Life.”
