Community members of Augusta Pride organization, health and business advocates of Georgia Regents University held a joint mixer in support of the Employment Non Discrimination Act (ENDA). The successful event was attended by 30 people. Many leaders like Justin Neisler, President of the LGBT Georgia Regents University student group and Vice President Augusta Pride President spoke about their support for ending workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. They signed postcards and made calls to Congressman Barrow’s office. The community mixer was a way to give support to the Americans for Workplace Opportunity campaign to pass ENDA through the U.S. House of Representatives.
In the past week, bipartisan support for ENDA has continued to build. Democratic Representative Jim Costa (CA-16) and Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo (NJ-2) became the 205th and 206th co-sponsors of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
HRC is a lead partner in Americans for Workplace Opportunity, the bipartisan campaign to pass ENDA. Members of Congress need to hear from their constituents why the passage of ENDA is important to them. Call on your Representative to support ENDA now.
