Alaska SCOTUSEarlier this week, Alaskans rallied in front of the Federal Courthouse in Anchorage to celebrate the United States Supreme Court overturning part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act and effectively ending California’s Proposition 8. While Alaska still bans same-sex marriage, Alaskans now see the path to marriage equality in their state much more clearly. Clergy, community leaders, LGBT rights advocates, and their allies came out to celebrate the victories of the day.
Alaska SCOTUSWhile there was much to celebrate, there was a consensus that there is still much work to be done in Alaska and across the nation for the LGBT community. Attendees were eager to sign postcards to Senator Lisa Murkowski to ask for her support of the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would prohibit discrimination in the workplace based solely on sexual orientation and gender identity.  Now that Senator Murkowski has taken a stand in support of marriage equality, we ask her to remain on the right side of history by supporting fair workplaces for LGBT Americans.
Join the growing majority of Americans who support ending workplace discrimination and ask your Senator to support ENDA.
