The Deseret News in Salt Lake City as a great piece on this weekend's Human Rights Campaign dinner in the heart of one of the most conservative places in the country. A record number attended with more than 800 LGBT people and straight supporters turning out to support the work of HRC. As HRC board member Bruce Bastian told the paper, the event is a "yearly 'pump up the troops'" and despite struggles along the way to equality, "in the end, truth and love will win."

As I reported Friday night, New York Governor David Paterson is planning to call the legislature into special session this week and today's New York Times Story "Paterson Vows Vote on Gay Marriage Before Break" confirms marriage equality is on the agenda - as soon as Tuesday.

Last week in Wading River, NY I attended a house party in support of the marriage equality bill. The hosts, Cara and Jenn, have been together for almost fifteen years, and this week they’ll celebrate the five year anniversary of their commitment ceremony. Eighteen months ago their family expanded to include JP (see below covered in cake).
