Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese applauded the United States Senate today for confirming Judge Sonia Sotomayor as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. The Senate voted 68-31 with 9 Republicans voting in favor of confirmation.

A new report by the American Psychological Association (APA)’s Task Force on Appropriate Therapeutic Responses to Sexual Orientation concludes that there is insufficient evidence that sexual orientation can be changed through psychotherapy and instructs mental health professionals to be honest with clients about the inefficacy of such treatments and help them deal with distress over sexual orientation in a positive manner.
